FR Review:
Charles Gemeiner and company began tinkering with wood more than 30 years ago; these days a good number of Los Angeles' best building professionals "fight tooth and nail" to obtain the firm's services and urge their clients to do the same. Gemeiner takes on a tremendous variety of high-end projects, from fashioning a single table to outfitting a monster estate. Depending on the job, he may take his cue from a fully realized blueprint or assist in the development of a customer's idea. With 35 workers on staff, the firm fabricates and installs—but does not stain—all its own creations.
The firm's consistent, well-conceived work is produced in a top-of-the-line, 32,000 square foot shop with computer-controlled equipment; we hear Gemeiner totes around a laptop and inspires clients with a digital slide show of the work as well. "A sturdy guy" at six-foot-four, Gemeiner is also said to "build that way—sound and solid." Noted as a real problem solver, he tackles projects that those with less experience pass up, inspiring builders to return to him for job after job. Prices are in the zone of other top-tier millworkers.
Representative Client Comments:
"Anything you need." "He will work to make a project perfect." "His work is not minimal or delicate, but substantial." "He's a traditionalist and will follow designs." "Works with the best people." "He is the nicest and will make it work." "Not too expensive."
