FR Review:
Carl and Constance Posse's smallish shop has made quite a splash since it opened in 2001. This husband-and-wife team has wooed some very elite decorators by making upholstery the old-fashioned way, with mostly coil springs and 50/50 down. About 90 percent of the work is done by hand, and down is used in most of the chair backs—something not often found in LA. All pieces are made with extreme care and precision.

The firm arrived with a distinguished pedigree: Constance managed Barbara Barry's office for five years, while Carl had worked briefly at JF Chen, and for three years at the now-defunct James Jennings. Today, they lead a crew of eight through the stages of superior furniture production and handholding. Clients rave about the biweekly status reports, which are faxed to them, tracking the progress of their projects. A standard (eight-foot coil) down sofa is well priced for premium product and will be delivered in four to six weeks (or, one week in a pinch). Considering the average prices, regulars say, the craftsmanship is extraordinary.

Representative Client Comments:
"Couture pieces at very fair pricing." "Carl and Constance are an absolute pleasure to work with." "While they are clearly on a learning curve, they have a great eye and will happily correct any issues." "Their welts are the smallest in town." "We switched to them because of the better service, excellent quality and the good pricing."
