Veneer work, high lacquer, gold and silver leaf finishes—Noel Ochoa is said to execute them all at the highest level. Noel's Fine French Refinishing, which was opened in 1992, generally takes on four to six large residential collections annually and has sent artisans to Florida, Germany and Italy. Though he has been called on to restore all kinds of antique furniture, the majority of Noel's projects involve applying Old-World finishes to brand new pieces.
The company charges by the job and is on the high end of the scale. We're told Noel's Fine French Refinishing works with a wide variety of clients, from younger professionals with modern tastes to the more classically influenced, older Hollywood crowd. About 75 percent of the company's work comes from decorators and architects. The rest of its projects come from showrooms and private clients. Noel's has been a featured firm in the city's popular showhouses: The Brentwood House, The Pasadena Showcase House and The Designer Showhouse in Sherwood. The company's exquisite work has been seen in many magazines and was recently featured in three straight issues of Architectural Digest.
