FR Review:
Of the myriad possibilities for carving a yard into the Southern California terrain, Pacific Outdoor Living has done them all. Principal Terry Morrill carries himself with a well-earned confidence, (even by contractor standards): rather than accompany us on a staged site visit, Morrill simply handed over a list of addresses and phone numbers. What followed was a self-guided tour of boulder-sized diving rocks, drought-resistant gardens, pro-sized basketball courts, full service outdoor kitchens, smiling workmen and happy homeowners.

Morrill and his two sons started Pacific Outdoor Living as a small tile and stone showroom in 1999 and have taken care in growing the business into the 100-person operation it is today. Maintaining organization and accountability among the specialized branches in the firm has been key to its “consistent execution;” Morrill runs a “tight ship” in the quality assurance and repair departments, a noticeable tactic that clients applaud. With all work done in-house (aside from pool plastering), Pacific takes pride in its design team, who, with over 25 years in the landscape industry, knows to cover zoning and codes before getting creative.

While Bob Dylan, Kim Basinger and the current owners of the late Elizabeth Taylor’s estate aren’t likely to show the public the work that Pacific Outdoor Living did for them, at 500 projects a year, this firm has a monopoly on the San Gabriel and San Fernando valleys (with occasional appearances in Beverly Hills and Brentwood) that can't be missed. It's also completed the outdoor installation for the Pasadena Designer Show House seventeen years running. Given the community Pacific Outdoor Living caters too, prices are surprisingly middle of the road, with final projects totaling in at around $65,000 (though some are well beyond that). Clients in the bidding stage can even walk away with complete shop drawings at half the price other firms charge, another risk Morrill is justifiably willing to take. However, the planning, precision, and individualized attention Pacific Outdoor Living pays to even prospective projects has clients choosing these “builders first,” first.

Representative Client Comments:
"I loved the way that the design team took note of the stones, tiles and colors not only within the existing exterior of our home, but inside as well; their installation blended so seamlessly it was like the yard and patio were there the whole time. The outdoor shower/bathroom even matched a powder room on the second floor." "Terry asked if we would host an open house once the project was done...not only did we say yes, but we stuck around and listened in on all the compliments guests paid our new yard." "They keep busy, and there have been a few times I couldn't get ahold of someone I was looking for right away...but the problem was always resolved ASAP, someone was on it no matter what." "Our property went from a pile of gravel to a pool with a waterfall, Jacuzzi and diving rock, fire pit, outdoor kitchen, covered/waterproof patio, basketball court and garden - all in 6 months!" "I've never experienced customer service like this. The response time is incredible." "The lead designer is truly invested in the project from the initial meeting; he didn't come off as sales-y, just concerned about our needs and how to make it work." "The crew is so professional and kind; I've had other workers come over and catch some shade...in my neighbors yard! Pacific Outdoor Living would never do that." "I wouldn't hire anyone else - why would I need to?"
