FR Review:
There are no boundaries, geographical or creative, when it comes to Garrett Woodworking's furniture and casework. Though the small shop is often enlisted to do unique, technically sophisticated jobs in locations ranging from Santa Monica to Colorado, it is also happy to take on classic projects, such as the custom duplication of doors for a 1920s restoration. The firm is an experienced hand-holder of high-maintenance clients and can work remotely on far-flung projects. Garrett Woodworking is fearless about taking on inexperienced customers and designers, as long as said novices prove willing to invest the time and money required to get it right.
Owner Mark Garrett has been active in residential construction since 1978. Formerly a general contractor, he's well versed in the expectations of designers and builders, and is sensitive to schedules and the integration of his work with other trades. About 30 percent of Garrett's commissions are for furniture, starting at $4,000 to $5,000 per piece. Casework for a small kitchen starts at $15,000. The firm provides shop drawings and samples in addition to what has been praised as sound aesthetic advice. Installation and finish work are subcontracted out.
Representative Client Comments:
"Diligent and reliable."
