FR Review:
Best known for realizing 20,000 square foot historical mansions that rival the finest chateaus in France and the grandest villas in Italy, Richard Manion Architecture caters to the wealthy and fabulous. Notable clients include Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, Jim Carrey and Vanna White. Richard Manion draws on his extensive study and frequent travels throughout the US and Europe to create opulent interpretations of Italian, Spanish Colonial, 18th-century French and Georgian style architecture. While each residence is crafted with pinpoint period accuracy, the modern interior living space is geared toward today's family living. Supporters applaud the results as "elegant," "graceful" and "timeless."
We're told the firm takes a highly collaborative and personalized approach to the process. Manion, who received an architecture degree from Columbia, where he studied American and European architectural history, worked for the venerable Robert A.M. Stern and Robert Venturi before coming to Los Angeles in 1987.
The firm's award-winning mega-residences dot the mountainous Mulholland Drive corridor and exclusive streets in Beverly Hills, Bel Air and Pacific Palisades. Some projects are as huge as 40,000 square feet (with lower than standard fees) and all are ultra-luxurious, placing this firm beyond the reach of all but the most established of clients.
Representative Client Comments:
"If you know what they deliver, they are the place to go." "Restrained work through all the correct details, given the magnitude." "Sensitive to their heavy European influences." "They have the system down, totally in control." "The Stanford White of LA—classically unbelievable." "While outrageously large, they get all the details correct. The result is dignified." "They actively monitor the construction process and are on top of the workmen."
