Lane|McCook's team of six takes on about five major new commissions each year. Clients seem to become clients for life—many of them are on their fourth or fifth renovation. Projects may be extensive—recently, a 737 was outfitted along with its fully decorated hangar. The Disney family and Dolly Parton are longtime patrons. Projects tend to be at the high end of the range, with substantial antiques.
The firm charges a relatively low design fee, standard markups on products and no hourlies. Budgets seem to evolve with the progress of the work. Lane|McCook works in close collaboration with clients, taking them shopping throughout the process. "Making it easy for the client" is the hallmark of the firm's business, and the key to its success.
