Exquisitely filling cavernous new mansions with a mix of the grand and eclectic, patrons hail Jeffrey Hitchcock for his impassioned love of the design process. Hitchcock has developed a clear preference for more formal settings, but one that can embrace sleek steel set against velvet, gilt alongside a third-century vase. Rooms are filled with a multitude of treasures from lands near and far. Clients tend to be well-traveled, well-heeled, and to appreciate his all-encompassing approach.
After apprenticing for eleven years in interior design, Hitchcock struck out on his own in 1987. About ten substantial projects are taken on per year by this two-person firm, which is noted to be exceptionally organized. Hitchcock does all of the shopping, which is generally based on high-end repro and a few great antiques. Clients trust Hitchcock to find a balance between the very best and the very good. While the cost of the furnishings is generally quite high, the fees are moderated on the larger items. A standard product commission is charged along with hourly fees, plus standard construction fees when applicable. An overwhelming percentage of current clients are repeat customers.
