FR Review:
With wit, focus and expression, Molly Luetkemeyer has emerged on the LA design scene. Bold colors, strong moldings, Palladian balance and flea-market finds play upon each other to create rooms of intelligence and character. Items are often used in an innovative manner, and rarely for their intended purpose. While better known for her irrepressible retro, the firm does a more timeless swank with equal aplomb. Clients are effusive about the easy process and the end result.

An aspiring actress in New York, Luetkemeyer went to LA to join the production side of Mike Nichols's film, Primary Colors. Her stay in LA revived a long-held passion for interior design. After receiving her masters at UCLA—during which she landed two very prestigious internships, one with Kelly Wearstler and one with Antonia Hutt—Luetkemeyer began her own firm in 2001. The firm takes on several large projects at a time. Commissions take them to Hancock Park, Beverly Hills, Bel Air and New York City, with clients such as Academy Award-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, Gilmore Girls' Lauren Graham and Boston Legal's Julie Bowen (Luetkemeyer's sister). There is also a solid group of happy bachelor clients.

These days Luetkemeyer can mostly be found working on mid- to high-end projects, but she has a proven ability to make more out of less: on TLC's hit show Clean Sweep, she miraculously turned a wreck of two rooms into highly workable home office for $2,000 (and in two days). The firm takes an hourly fee and standard markup. Budgets tend to evolve. Luetkemeyer is reportedly good about freshening up the old, using what clients possess. We're told she takes the initiative in preempting any lurking issues, a strength particularly admired by references. Recent press credits include the New York Times, the LA Times, and California Home and Design. HB Top Designers, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005.

Representative Client Comments:
"This firm is young and hip, but also incredibly professional and easy to work with." "When we could not find the right entry hall piece, Molly designed one at a great price." "She introduced unexpected pops of color into our chroma-phobic lifestyle, and we just love it." "There are no preconceived notions, but an openness of attitude." "Molly does not expect us to say yes to Scalamandre and call it a day." "If I hesitated, she had a Plan B 24 hours later. And then I usually went with Plan A." "She asks all her clients to name five adjectives to describe the way they want to live." "They also can expertly execute an elegant, modern and yet not industrial trendy." "Celebrating pop culture as an art form." "I would not recommend her for period-pure, but for innovative, exciting, fresh design, she is the best."
