FR Review:
Its quirky name and respected services make this firm a standout among its peers along La Brea Avenue. Sources say Lawrence of La Brea continues to win fans among many of Los Angeles's high-end collectors, interior decorators, architects and homeowners. Mainly a dealer of fine antique and modern rugs, the firm also does cleaning, repair, restoration and installation of area rugs.

Established in 1990 and managed by David Nourafshan, the firm stocks a splendid array of antique Chinese, Tibetan and Persian rugs, antique and custom-made Turkish kilims, French tapestries and Aubussons. The company also locates and appraises rare rugs for clients at no extra cost. Lawrence of La Brea also manufactures modern area rugs in their recently expanded plants in India and Pakistan.

Cleaning can be done on-site or in the company's plant, and there is a special 24-hour emergency service for water damage. Services are usually priced by the square foot and restoration and repair by the hour. Workers are willing to move furniture for on-site jobs—for others, pickup and delivery are free. There is, however, a charge for a written appraisal on antique rugs or tapestries.

Licensed, bonded and insured, the company has a crew of fourteen full-time employees, including eight full-time weavers. The business primarily serves West LA and some areas around Orange County. The firm is also a member in good standing of the Better Business Bureau, ASID and the Interior Business Association (IBA). Sources tell us you don't have to be a desert prince to get the royal treatment from the customer-oriented, efficient and punctual staff.

Representative Client Comments:
"Fantastic. One of our favorite stops." "You are treated like a king while in the showroom. Very friendly." "One of our favorites for mid-market goods and custom Tibetan orders." "Reputable. Very accommodating." "Can produce any design imaginable."
