FR Review:
The "something extra" that Houck Construction brings to the job is a combination of a sharply honed aesthetic sensibility and an "every nail perfect" delivery. For 20 years, this firm has handled mostly remodels and restorations of revered architects' work, earning high marks for being "completely invested" in its work. More recently, the company has branched out into high-end retail build out and design/build residential services. Houck also provides a full-service estate management service that will deal with everything from toppled mailboxes to loose shingles.
Clients tell us owner David Houck brings his personal authority to the craftsmanship of each job. Reports say Houck, a confessed gearhead and frustrated architect, has a fine technical understanding of all aspects of construction. Clients and architects recognize the value of his input in the "amazing" finished product. He oversees upwards of 50 employees, including management gurus, trade vets, design pros and administrative staff. Weekly job meetings keep the captain on the bridge, heads above water and the voyage on target. The firm subs out when possible, and will always get three bids to show.
Representative Client Comments:
"A real perfectionist." "Said three months and was done in three months." "Young and energetic." "The meticulous nature of his staff can make the project proceed slowly and the firm's work is pricey. As such, probably better suited to high-end clients (with the luxury of time and money)." "David has a good aesthetic sense for what's right for the house." "Introduced us to many high-quality craftspeople." "David gave prompt feedback, was reachable and was always courteous." "He made sure everything got completed properly, even if it had to be redone. He was helpful in fixing up things he didn't even do."
