FR Review:
A gentle warmth is reflected in Mark Weaver's work, a glow that invites the onlooker to come and take a seat. The firm prides itself on active collaboration with the client, finding a seamless balance between the traditional and the more contemporary, with comfort as a primary goal. California forms in soothing neutrals are most often favored, with punches of graphic art that reflect Weaver's association with the LA Museum of Contemporary Art. Italian influences also may be seen with frequent trips abroad. References report that not only are the rooms calm, but so is the process.
Raised in Southern California, Weaver moved to LA to attend Woodbury College, and soon thereafter worked with respected old-line designer Frank Austin. In 1969, he set up on his own and soon had a society editor client. There are five members of the team, including Darrell Wilson, who received a master's of architecture at Princeton and a master's of fine arts at the Otis School. The firm can do the most complete jobs, down to placing the clothes in the closet and lighting the fireplace, but it is also open to refurbishing a few rooms.
Clients report that the process is quite clear, with a specific letter agreement. The firm charges a standard up-front design fee and standard markups on product. Weaver has maintained the loyalty of clients over his decades-long career, now doing several children's and grandchildren's homes.
