FR Review:
Brown Osvaldsson is often called in to execute the designs of the city's most discriminating architects. From Craftsman to contemporary, the Malibu beachfront to the Hollywood Hills, this firm takes on ground-up residential projects and larger remodels. While some jobs top $700,000, the firm also enjoys doing challenging smaller pet projects with favorite architects. Despite the significant volume of business, Brown Osvaldsson still forms a special bond with the homeowner. Clients often come back to the principals directly, even ten years later.
Bruce Brown and Arnie Osvaldsson formed the firm in 1990, and one of the two owners is always at the job to keep control and ensure quality. Brown and Osvaldsson bring more than 35 years of building experience to the company, as finish carpenters, framers and construction managers. Not surprisingly, they have a lot of input into design elements, producing mock-ups when necessary. We hear they know what the architect likes to see and are expert in determining finishes. Reports describe them as anything but pushy. Clients are encouraged to entertain ideas and weigh options through the course of the project. A balance between a consistent, focused schedule and a little room for whimsy and innovation typifies Brown Osvaldsson's approach.
The firm's preconstruction services are offered on an hourly basis or per square foot. Contracts are split between time and material and fixed.
Representative Client Comments:
"You get a special outcome. Denmark-craftsman quality." "I've hired them for many of my interior design projects. When I do my house, they will be my contractor."
