With sparkle, wit and focus, Scott Sanders' imaginative use of traditional forms find a whole new meaning in his hands. Grand master portraits juxtapose crème lacquer walls, beadboards are painted fire engine red, navy ticking stripes cover nail-headed antiques. Sanders brings a classically based, comfortably nostalgic yet fresh sensibility to his interiors. Clients turn to Sanders for his original vision and highly personalized interiors from the metamorphosis of an elegant Fifth Avenue apartment with limestone, camel hair and tattersall to a 15,000-square-foot new Harrison home done in new-wave English Country.
After graduating Parsons and spending ten years at Polo Ralph Lauren, where he established the company's Interior Design Department, Sanders opened his eponymous firm in 2000. A design boutique, clients get Sander's full attention. They tell us he is amazing at follow-up, both during and after the project. Projects have included residences in Manhattan, the Hamptons, Palm Beach, Greenwich, Bedford, Palm Springs, Paris and London, which range from New England understated genteel to hot Art Deco beachside. Sanders' redesign of The Beach House Bal Harbour in Miami received a stir of attention. Sanders is comfortable working on large or small projects in the region and well beyond.
Clients welcome the firm's unusual methodology of pricing. Sanders charges a flat fee, based on a reasonable mark-up of estimated project costs. Completed projects start at $100,000. Sanders is said to be equally adept at redecorating a few rooms as working with architects on new construction.
