Fresh on the New York City design scene, but certainly no stranger to the faux finish world, is Patrick Bancel, a low key, understated and modest artisan whom clients call a master. Originally from France, Bancel studied and worked alongside icons of the decorative painting world for 18 years before bringing his talent and company, A Trompe L'oeil, to New York City. Honing his old work techniques and maintaining the standards of Dutch masters, Bancel worked as Assistant Director of the famed Van Der Kelen Institure of Painting in Brussels. Combining practical experience with natural ability, his work has been recognized all over the world with distinctions such as Who's Who International Member, New York National Arts Club Member, International Contest at Cannes in 2002, just to name a few. His fine art paintings can be seen at galleries in Europe and the United States.
Bancel handles projects in and around the city in every imaginable decorative discipline including faux finishes, trompe l'oeil, paintings on canvas, ageing, glazing, murals, gold leaf, and the list goes on. Loyal fans remark that his talent and dedication to his craft are rare in this country, and they are thrilled to have found him.
