FR Review:
References praise this "accommodating" and "diligent" contractor for "commercial timing" and "residential sensitivity." DHI does corporate interiors, residential renovations and new construction in the Tri-State area, with projects ranging from $50,000 to $10 million. We hear the firm is often called upon to meet tight schedules, and that it has completed a litany of work for the area's most discriminating country clubs, including Union Club, Yale Club and Piping Rock.
With inside experience at an architecture firm, principal Howard Dym possesses an appreciation for and knowledge of both sides of the construction coin. As such, he has fashioned his firm as a collaborative builder staffed with "good clear communicators." Five project managers, all with over seven years of experience, run an "honest" and "responsible" group of subs. While the firm can be trusted with large projects, it will tend to small items as well. Contracts are often negotiated and in order to keep a lid on the budget, the firm gets involved very early in the design phase.
Representative Client Comments:
"Howard and the guys at DHI are kind and practical. Decent human beings trying to make a decent living." "I had a zillion change orders that were all me and every time they always charged fairly." "Subs get the job done." "They might not initiate the aesthetic, but they will implement." "Good about their promise on time frame. The architect didn't notice how an AC vent interrupted the molding, and they reconfigured it with no muss and fuss with their own guys at minimal cost."
