A "real stickler for detail," Nadler designs every last light fixture, molding, tile and floor pattern. And don't forget site planning, permit approvals and zone requirement interpretation. Sources tell us Nadler and his staff are students of historical architecture, proper proportion and "just the right patinas on the materials to make them look weathered but not abused." We're told Nadler can deftly design in a range of styles, from stark modern to formal classical. Most clients, however, come to him with traditional projects such as Tudor, English Country, Federal, Georgian and New England farmhouses.
Nadler founded the firm in 1975 and currently has a staff of twelve. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt. Clients often approach Nadler with properties "that seem impossible to build on" and he will find a way for the structure to work as a seamless part of the natural landscape. Sources applaud Nadler for his careful incorporation of sunlight, foliage, vistas and views into the overall living experience. Nadler is so intent on getting the perfect design for the site and client that he will "draw it over and over again until he gets it right."
The firm has about a dozen residential projects in various stages of completion at any given time. Most are in the Westchester/Fairfield area, but select projects are around the US. Nadler takes on large-scale gut renovations that start at about $1 million and designs large new homes that top out at $15 million. The firm charges a standard to slightly lower percentage of construction costs.
