FR Review:
Known as a "true designer" by her peers, Elouise Spelbrink works in a restrained traditional framework and then introduces flair and fun with a personal touch. Depending upon the interests of the client, this can take the form of American folk art antiques, handsome woodwork or sleeker, retro-tinged accessories. Spelbrink is often brought into projects from gestation, and is said to be quite helpful offering suggestions on the architecture that later enhances furniture placement.
A one-woman design firm, Spelbrink has worked out of the offices of architect, Laurent "Rink" Dupont for the past twenty years. She takes on only two to three major projects at a time to maintain a strong hands-on presence. Most of her clients are strongly family oriented, many with younger children. Spelbrink is happy to do a few rooms to start, offering less expensive alternatives for the children's quarters.
The firm works on a highly Reasonable hourly basis for the upfront design work and then Classic retail on purchases. Budgets tend to evolve as the project progresses. Spelbrink knows and works with many fine workmen in New York and the regional area, but is good about finding a whiter shade of pale. ASID.
Representative Client Comments:
"Elouise's taste is so exquisite that it does not look decorated." "We totally trusted her judgment, and she helped a lot with the architectural details." "We were able to buy most of the furniture during construction, and it worked just beautifully." "An easy, lovely person to work with." "Elouise really picks up on what you would like, not what she would like." "We did not have a clue what to allot for a budget, but Elouise never picked anything over our choke point." "Many of our friends have used Elouise once they saw our home."
