FR Review:
Mark and Susan Bijleveld came to the United States from native Holland bringing the fine old-world ways with them. Mark was a master apprentice at Pander, the most prestigious upholstery firm in Holland and then worked for his uncle in the Hague for several years. FIF was opened in 2001 as an extension of the Dutch business. There is a massive, three-story building of 35,000 square feet that serves as the workroom. As of now, there are four on the team with Mark heading up the upholstery side and Susan in charge of the drapery work.
Several renowned New York and Connecticut decorators have already found there way to FIF, where all the work is done with traditional methodologies. FIF is looking to expand--with their excellent craftsmanship and very good pricing, this American dream should become a reality.
Representative Client Comments:
"There isn't a hem to be seen or a pattern that doesn't match exactly." "Their European training results in workmanship that is based on 18th century techniques, and every piece I have given them to reupholster has come back with far superior construction than what it had originally." "Superb work with fine European detailing." "Young people on the up-and-up."
