FR Review:
Munrod is a large operation with excellent customer service. While catering also to the commercial market with clients such as The Grand Floridian at Disneyland, the firm's roots are in residential. The home market is still about half the volume, and all the work maintains residential standards. All clients receive the benefit of economies of scale, and thus good pricing.
Started in 1978, the firm now has a 34,000-square-foot shop and thirty five people, including five sales representatives. On the residential side, Maurie Cyms is the design director and "is excellent understanding the nuances of the interior designers and homeowners." Cyms is an industrial design grad from Pratt. Owner Manny Munoz is a third-generation furniture maker, learning the trade in Honduras. Making everything "except for the trees" including their own frames, Munrod controls the process and therefore can meet deadlines. Workers are used to doing prototypes and have a large showroom in which about 50 pieces are displayed.
