FR Review:
Appearing as if the rooms evolved over generations, Patti Hill guides clients with focus, thoughtful reflection and a soft hand. Offering a richness in form, designs are saturated in scope and provenance, commingling the fine and the personally meaningful. Whether starting with a new construction or an historic home, detailed painted millwork, unusual fabrics and textiles and Sheraton mahogany often make a statement. Contributing to both the architectural construct and the building implementation, Hill is appreciated for her skill and practical nature all the way.
Hill learned both the design and the business aspects from the best. She began her career on a trading floor at DLJ, went on to work with Ron Perlman at Revlon and then delved into the design trade with a master, Thomas Jayne. On her own since 1992, there are now four people in the firm, with Hill as the designer, doing all the shopping and client meetings. She also has a varied and professional group of specialty painters and craftsman. Many of Hill's clients are using a designer for the first time and say they "could not imagine ever doing it without her."
Using Fortuny to Pottery Barn, Hill is excellent about starting with just a few rooms and going in phases. There is a Standard design fee and Reasonable markups.
