FR Review:
Lauded for their sophisticated designs infused with warmth and character, David Dumas and Cheryl Dixon create homes that inspire and delight their clients. Stretching the bounds of classic traditional, the pair takes the tried and true, twisting it ever so slightly so as to charm and enlighten each room. Balustrades are spiraled, garages are turreted and eyebrow windows wink. Interiors are flooded with light and a calming melange of interesting shapes in harmonious tones. With Dumas on architecture and Dixon on interior design, clients appreciate the integrated, professional approach which "speaks to the heart of the client."

Dumas and Dixon both spent twelve years with Banks Design before establishing their own firm just this year. Dumas, who has wanted to be an architect as long as he can remember, has been registered in Connecticut since 1989, after receiving his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Arizona. Dixon received her interior design certificate from Sacred Heart University after graduating the University of Bridgeport in painting and art history. There is just one associate who works for the firm full time, so clients get the principals' direct attention. About half the work is done in tandem, and about half independent of each other. On the architecture side, about three-quarters of the commissions are renovations and one-quarter new construction. Most of the projects are in the immediate Connecticut area--Darien, Greenwich, Guilford, New Canaan, Wilton.

Before all projects commence, Dumas & Dixon have lengthy discussions with the client and together develop a "concept statement" which becomes the strategic plan. Thus, the lifestyle vision and the architectural and interior reality converge. The firm will do consultation work and phased design. For larger projects, a very low upfront design fee is charged with Reasonable hourly rates and Low product markups.

Representative Client Comments:
"I have worked with many, many designers in the area and David and Cheryl stand out as incredibly professional." "These guys can do anything. "There are no words to describe how David transformed the façade of our boring Dutch Colonial into a home of exquisite taste and charm." "It is so tasteful, but simultaneously a joyful departure from what everyone else has in Darien." "The colors and materials are more modern, but fit right in." "When the contractors could not figure out how to place the patio stair, David came right out and solved the issue." "Cheryl is so accommodating. She makes everything work for you."
