FR Review:
Known for a "balanced aesthetic appeal," Gordon is said to take cues from the existing structure and the community and "interpret it with a vocabulary established in a modern idiom." We are told Gordon and his staff excel in the creative use of the land and views of small plots of land--many less than one acre. The firm stresses the use of natural light by implementing larger expanses of glass in homes they design to create balanced relationships between indoor and outdoor spaces. This harmonious and often seamless relationship between outdoors and indoors is a client-valued characteristic of a Lawrence Gordon home.
Gordon, a graduate of Cooper Union with an Master of Architecture from MIT, is a design professional committed to excellence. He started the firm in 1977. Today, he leads a cohesive team that includes national award winning architects with extensive and varied experience. Turnover of employees is said to be extremely low, which allows for a steadfast team that is afforded long-term relationships with its clients, both on and off site.
The majority of the firm's annual residential projects are ground-up home designs with budgets up to $4 million. The firm will take on renovations as small as a single room, but the average budget is around $200,000.
