FR Review:
Jeffrie Lane keeps a small firm that enables him to be intimately involved in each project and to interact with clients from start to finish. He's known to handle much of the drawing himself and carry the bulk of the load of each project to maintain his high standards of design. While sources say Lane is "acutely sensitive" to historical styles of architecture such as Victorian, Colonial and French Normandy, he is not committed to a particular style. Some say Lane can come off "cool" at first, but quickly warms up to clients who share his design vision.
Lane, who attended Syracuse University, started this three-person firm in 2003 after a partnership with another architect and five years working with David Easton. All of Lane's commissions are residential, and he takes on a limited number of projects each year. Most are substantial renovations, which tend to carry budgets in the $1 million to $2 million range. He also takes on new home designs that can command eight-digit price tags. Lane works exclusively in Westchester, Rockland and Fairfield counties.
We're told Lane is a highly collaborative architect who works seamlessly with big name decorators and landscape architects. He also favors rich millwork and collaborates with the finest craftsmen. The firm charges a slightly higher fee based on a combination of hourly rates and a percentage of overall construction costs.
