Founded by John Tarko in 1983, the firm has grown from a small operation to a twenty-truck, 50-man team described as “courteous” and “accommodating.” From the firm’s spotless trucks to the work ethic of its employees, many references tell us that Moving Ahead is the only company they will use for both personal and business relocations. Indeed, Manhattan Mini Storage (one of the city’s largest storage facilities) uses the firm as its mover of choice. Tarko and Co. charge by the hour, but give firm estimates for really big jobs. While not the cheapest on our list, Moving Ahead is praised by its many fans, for whom a stress-free move is priceless.
