FR Review:
Sources say Charlie Reppenhagen is a true New England architect of times gone by. He works on his own, using outside consultants only when necessary, and prefers to handle each project from design through construction. With more than 40 years experience, Reppenhagen is said to find great joy in "designing spectacular rooms one at a time." The majority of Reppenhagen's work ranges from one-room remodels to million-dollar guts. He also handles the occasional ground-up home, but we're told the architect prides himself on designing additions "that look like they've been there forever." Reppenhagen favors using materials that have "a natural patina or proud age" to them.
In addition to his efforts to effectively preserve vintage architecture, insiders say Reppenhagen is a big supporter of practicality and functionality. He's a local architect who works exclusively in Westchester and Fairfield (mostly in Sherman, Woodbury and Newtown). Reppenhagen created the firm in 1965 with a recently retired partner and only takes on about eight projects a year. In addition to his residential work, Reppenhagen, a graduate of RPI, has also done a number of church renovations. Insiders say he "absolutely loves creating beautiful spaces," which may explain why he has some of the most reasonable hourly rates of any architect in the area.
Representative Client Comments:
"We basically took a chainsaw and knocked down half the house and he built it back up into a gorgeous living space." "Reppenhagen listens, which is the most important quality about him and he translates our ideas into magnificent drawings." "He spends enough time with you to work out every last detail--from where to put the power outlets to the type of molding to go around the windows."
