FR Review:
Known for her sophisticated distillations of highbrow rustic, Hilary Heminway is often invited to Montana to supervise the interiors of substantial ranch retreats. Sometimes, riding horseback is the only way to the job site. But based out of Stonington, Heminway has also been called up to serve the local market with projects such as restrained versions of formal English country in Greenwich, casual American country in Old Lyme and country-club chic in Watch Hill. Very little is period pure but noted as "high quality melange with a sense of pastoral humor." After studying art at Boston University, Heminway worked in design for family and friends. In 1985 she established her practice and now undertakes about eight substantial projects at a time with her New York City-based niece Tobin Heminway. The firm does hourly consulting at Standard rates, bills monthly for project management and charges roughly Classic retail on product.
