FR Review:
This surgeon makes house calls, and clients are “overjoyed” at such “a unique service”—rewiring lamps right on the premises. Be it a chandelier, a mini-halogen, a temperamental three-way or a European fixture converted to US voltage, this electrician is on call. He makes his rounds in the New York City region, including Westchester and the Hamptons, and extends service to NJ and CT. He is even available to assess antique finds before purchase, convert vases to lamps, or to provide a custom lamp shade if necessary. However, the Lamp Surgeon will not do new installation work.
The surgeon is Roy Schneit, a 40-year veteran of the lighting business and the former owner of a light shop in Manhattan. He works alongside “nurse” (and wife) Lois, who handles the office. Clients shower the pair with flattering adjectives, including “prompt,” “professional,” “knowledgeable” and “obliging.” Prices–ranging from “fantastic bargain” to “fair deal”–are always quoted over the phone.
Representative Client Comments:
“Neat and careful, great with antiques.” “His professional competence is matched by his unfailing courtesy and punctuality.” “The cost was exactly as he quoted beforehand on the phone.” “It would have been such a nuisance to schlep these lamps to a repair shop. And a ‘regular’ electrician would have charged substantially more.” “He gives accurate estimates and works efficiently.”
