FR Review:
Supporters depend on Libby Cameron for colorful, comfortable, breezy elegance reminiscent of the days of summer family retreats. While Cameron is better known for easy, natural fabrics geared toward the children and the dogs, clients also recount her abilities with more formal English traditions. Cameron has a loyal group of clients up and down the East Coast, many of whom consider her to be a "secret source." About 30 percent of her clientele is in Connecticut and Westchester, where she usually revitalizes entire homes.
Cameron went out on her own about eight years ago after working closely with her mentor, Sister Parish, for fifteen years at Parish-Hadley. Because she has a broad base of operations and an interest in attending each client meeting, patrons say she has certain time limitations but works hard to please. Clients range widely in age, some of which date to Cameron's years at Parish-Hadley, but are consistent in their high-quality focus. More recently, Cameron has partnered with Sister Parish's granddaughter to develop a line of colorful and playful fabrics based on Mrs. Parish's favorite designs (sold through Hinson or at www.sisterparishdesign.com).
The firm charges a relatively small design fee and Classic retail for products. While project cost and budgets are considered, this is not the focus of the work (but clients say they were informed and felt comfortable with charges). Sources range from the top-quality Alessandro mantels to Pottery Barn to whimsical secret sources in the South. Reportedly the D&D building is hardly ever visited. Living rooms can be as low as $30,000, going to about $100,000, not including major antique rugs. Supporters have often completed numerous projects with Cameron and look forward to doing more.
