FR Review:
Clients line up for the chance to work with this "awesome but hard to get" family-operated contracting company. Founded in 1974 by Gerhard Isop Sr., who was classically trained as an apprentice carpenter in his native Germany, the firm takes on new constructions, renovations and additions as well as teardowns. Isop Inc. builds exclusively in Westchester on projects budgeted anywhere from $50,000 to $2 million and specializes in custom built-ins, floors, vanities and libraries. Most of the millwork is done in-house.
A holder of a bachelor's degree in engineering, Gerhard Jr. took the reins ten years ago from his father, who can still be found in the field. Gerhard Jr.'s brother and mother also contribute to the company. We hear the firm interfaces well with clients and architects, generally working with the same designer again and again. Isop Inc. performs all its own framing, trim, siding, roofing, layout and excavation work and enjoys second-generation relationships with its subs. Contracts are AIA cost-plus or fixed price.
Representative Client Comments:
"He's fantastic. A small operation." "A lot of people will just wait for him. I had a client who waited seven months to get him."
