FR Review:
The thrust of Goiran's work revolves around a "socio-centric point of view" that is broken into four parts: private and public spaces; adult-child relationships; and diurnal/nocturnal and seasonal patterns. It is this highly cerebral family-oriented approach that attracts couples who are looking to create the perfect living environment to raise children and "grow old with the home." By creating a dialogue between the original structure and its renovation work, Goiran is able to seamlessly integrate the new with the old while "amplifying the vocabulary of generations of architecture." Goiran concentrates primarily on renovations in which his eclectic design works effortlessly with a broad spectrum of styles from colonial to modern.
Goiran is a sole practitioner who began designing on his own in 1982. He holds a Master of Architecture from Penn and an undergraduate degree from Brown. The architect works locally, with most of his projects taking place in and around Greenwich. He doesn't have a website or e-mail address--so reaching him by phone is your only option. Goiran generally takes on about ten projects each year, ranging from small $200,000 jobs to $1 million gut renovations. The firm charges a lower fee that is based on a combination of a fixed fee through schematics, a percentage of the construction budget and an hourly rate.
