Jay Haverson, a graduate of Columbia and Syracuse, started the firm in 1993 after ten years as a principal in a New York City firm. He and wife Carolyn, a graduate of Syracuse and Parsons, are principals. Carolyn Haverson leads the firm's graphic design services, which is offered both in collaboration with the architecture or completely independently. Interior design is billed out hourly with no markup on product. Clients say they appreciate the emphasis placed on the seamless integration of exterior and interior design. Haverson Architecture and Design takes on projects starting with $200,000 construction budgets and averaging $1 million to $2 million. The firm works mainly in the Greenwich/New Canaan and Northern Westchester areas and also in the Hamptons. Haverson charges a slightly lower fee based on a fixed fee or a percentage of construction costs.
