FR Review:
Sources say the charismatic Peter Cadoux takes on projects "of significant detail and creative design" that are predicated more on the unique architectural challenge than the size of the home--or its budget. From formal Federal and Georgian homes to more laid-back Nantucket Shingle style residences, Cadoux most often designs in a traditional language. Each project is said to be "site-intuitive" with extensive study of prevailing winds, topography and other site conditions. Cadoux and his staff are said to "creatively bring the feel and theme of the exterior into the interior" by designing right down to the hardware, fixtures and appliances.
The firm handles numerous waterfront projects, and clients say Cadoux knows all the nuances, intricacies and code requirements of coastal construction. From single professionals who work in the city to empty-nesters expanding family estates, Cadoux has a diverse client base, nearly all of whom live in Fairfield County. With a busy and successful firm with an exclusive clientele, sources say, "don't be surprised if there's a waiting list" for Cadoux's services.
Cadoux, a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, established this firm of eight in 1992. He and his staff take on about six new homes and ten renovation projects each year, carrying budgets of $500,000 to $10 million, although "he'll do an interesting kitchen if it's up to his standards." The firm charges a slightly lower than standard percentage of overall construction costs.
