FR Review:
Speaking the language and understanding the dreams of her clients, Susan Thorn builds rooms of gentle beauty, strength of character and depth of detail. Chintz, checks, tassels and tortoiseshell are offset with a quality of restraint and an interwoven esprit, such as a fine Chippendale armchair in an unexpected ivory leather cover. The result is comfortable, familial warmth, which is both calm and stylish. On the cover of Classic American Home a few years ago, the work was highlighted for its polish and ease.
Thorn, in business for herself for over 40 years, has clearly figured out how to keep a number of active projects on target with a sound back office, including in-house CAD capability. With a propensity for finding period hardware at costs far less than the contractors, it is no wonder clients are impressed and appreciative. Thorn is also known for keeping the workmen in line, consistent with her high expectations.
Upfront design schemes are charged at a Reasonable rate by the hour, and a Reasonable commission is charged on product. A wide range of economic choices are considered, with a living room at anywhere from $25,000 (very low) to more typical costs. Young, new homeowners are attracted to Thorn's open views and those more established return for work on their second and third homes. ASID.

"Susan is amazing in her detailed involvement. She helped me spec all the hardware and even found antique beams for the living room when the contractor couldn't." "She is so good about retrofitting all of your current furnishings to fit into the improved space." "It was so much fun, a great example of teamwork." "Susan has phenomenal resources." "It totally looks like us, only way better than we ever could have done." "It could have been here for generations."
