FR Review:
Insiders say Donald Rattner's extensive experience as an architect and teacher, combined with a commitment to classical and traditional design, makes this newly created firm one of the highest integrity. We're told Rattner holds the belief that "context suggests the style" of each project, and he possesses an affinity for regional vernacular "under the umbrella of traditional design." The majority of his projects are residential in nature, focusing on large-scale gut renovations and ground-up homes up and down the eastern seaboard.
Rattner, who has an undergraduate degree from Columbia and a Master of Architecture from Princeton, created the firm after a successful partnership in the firm Ferguson Shamamian & Rattner. He now partners with Andrew Friedman, who holds a degree from Cooper Union. Insiders say Rattner established this firm in order to devote more time and attention to each project that comes across his desk. Most are located in Westchester and Fairfield counties as well as Manhattan with the remainder in Martha's Vineyard, West Virginia and Georgia.
While the larger part of the residential work carries significant budgets ranging from $500,000 to $3.5 million, Rattner is known to take on smaller projects such as a kitchen or bathroom renovation for select clients. In addition to residential commissions, the firm is also active in working with developers to create resorts and golf facilities. Standard fees are based on a combination of hourly rates and/or a percentage of overall construction costs.
Representative Client Comments:
