FR Review:
For highly customized, classical design of major renovations, sprawling single-family homes and estates, clients say ERG is second to none. Clients extol the firm's disciplined and methodical approach to creating luxurious and elegant residential spaces. Based in Greenwich, insiders tell us ERG Architect is a small three-person firm with big clients. Edward Ronald Gushue (known simply as Ron) is the sole proprietor, and has built up a clientele of those who work in New York City but live in exclusive neighborhoods outside the metro area--in addition to a number of city dwellers. Insiders tell us it would be wise for potential clients to study this high-end firm's work before inquiring about services, particularly for projects with modest budgets.
Founded by Gushue in 1984, the firm takes on about twelve large projects each year with construction costs that often eclipse seven and eight figures. The vast majority of ERG's work is residential, although Gushue, who earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Idaho, has completed several high-profile commercial projects. The firm generally focuses on major projects but will do smaller renovations or additions for repeat clients, which we hear make up nearly all of ERG's business. ERG is flexible in its fee structure and can charge an hourly rate, fixed price or a standard percentage of total construction costs.
Representative Client Comments:
"Ron has a very good sense of balance and proportion and is able to effectively translate his ideas." "He's very well-regarded and has a very easygoing personality." "His greatest asset is that he has an unparalleled knowledge of the materials that make up these high-end types of projects." "I trust him to work on almost anything. We love our house and we're going to have him do a carriage house for us."
