FR Review:
Constantin Gorges has impressed clients with interiors that reflect a worldly sophisticated view, pastiches that are jauntily poised on the leading edge. Designs range from clean 20th century modern to Continental traditional luxury, but are typically a mix. This creates an interplay of energy and form that is consistently described as "exquisite." Gorges favors luxurious materials and fine antiques, used with restraint. Architecture usually sets the tone--Neoclassical glam in Coral Gables, transitional elegance on Indian Creek, stylish contemporary modern on South Beach, hip Deco-Moderne in Palm Beach, New Age on the 77th floor in Manhattan--but all are said to be gracious.
Gorges is sympathetic to budget constraints, expertly integrating clients' existing furnishings into the design plan. While he knows and offers the best, he always seems to have a well-priced alternative "up his sleeve." Because of his excellent and multifarious training--Parsons School of Design in New York, Noel Jeffrey, Peter Marino and Parish-Hadley's architecture department, all prior to 1997, when he started his own firm)--Gorges, according to appreciative clients (often becomes the project manager. While he wins accolades for delivering fantastic architectural details (including lighting schematics) and intelligent design elements (Peter Marino at a fraction of the cost), some say he has less interest in selecting the detailed accessories, such as books, picture frames, etc.
Gorges is known to be very fair with his fees, as he is most focused on a perfect end result. He has been known to waive charges for things that are redone even if he originally followed a client decision. He charges a standard design fee and a reasonable percentage over net. Oversight fees may be charged by the hour or on a percentage basis. Clients highly recommend Gorges for his cohesive vision and outstanding project management skills. KB, 2001.
