FR Review:
Armstrong Landscape & Design must have landscaping in their blood, customers say. And in fact, The Armstrong family has been landscaping from Jupiter Island and Hobe Sound to the Gulf Stream and Del Ray Beach since the 1960s. Principal Bruce Armstrong began in the industry right after high school, working for his father before joining the military; when he returned, he started his own company. These days, Armstrong still handles all of his firm's estimating, is involved in some design work and makes regular visits to all job sites.
Armstrong Landscape & Design does not do any maintenance work, only design and installation. Including office staff, supervisors and six crews of installers, the company roster totals approximately 35. Armstrong has its own in-house certified architect, but clients also acknowledge the ease with which the company works with outside designers, including some of the most prestigious firms in the area.
The company maintains up to seven projects at any one time, averaging between $40,000 and $100,000. Armstrong charges time and material, with a going rate of $30 an hour per man plus equipment (cranes, loaders, etc.). Bruce Armstrong and his team also have access to their own 20-acre nursery and greenhouse for materials, which they stock for individual jobs, helping to expedite project timetables and ensure timely completion.
