Creative Media Designs is a mid-sized A/V and integration company that focuses on solid technology and tenacious customer service (the firm has been known to dispatch technicians on emergency flights if a far-away client needs immediate assistance). Affable founder/president Jim Pearson, who moved CMD from New York to Florida in 1995, has been in at all levels of the A/V business for over 25 years, everything from owning a video rental store to supervising complex installations. As such, his firm covers a wide range: home theaters, distributed audio systems, communication systems, automated lighting, motorized blinds, and even some computer help if needed. The firm, however, does not install security or vacuum systems.
CMD has a staff of seven, with Pearson or his partner supervising all major decisions. Sources cite their direct involvement as a key advantage of the firm: it's easy to get in touch with a principal (indeed, the principals are often the first to answer the phone). The company does not offer service contracts, preferring to charge on a case-by-case basis.
