FR Review:
A comfortable yacht can become something of a second home, and what’s a second home without a great home theater? Avia, a Fort Lauderdale-based, CEDIA-certified A/V firm with a focus on “marine” applications, is here to help. The company, helmed by Michael Phillips and Eric Roy, earns praise from references for its extremely customized projects and for its expertise on retrofit jobs. Sources also say the firm is expert at hiding bulky equipment in tight spaces (an especially useful skill when it comes to yachts, where space is always at a premium).
Avia’s staff can design and install more or less the same technology that’s available on land, including high-end audio and video systems, automated lighting control and all measure of electronic integration. The firm has worked on everything from petite 80-foot Lazarras to a massive 310-foot Lurssen. Some clients have also taken Avia ashore and hired the firm to do A/V work on their homes, though it is primarily recommended for its yacht work. Because of the inherent complications of marine work, the firm’s services are, almost by definition, not cheap. However, sources say that the firm delivers solid quality, commensurate with the price.
Representative Client Comments:
"Solid firm, solid work." "Better retrofits than some other firms' new projects." "Good guys, they'll come in the middle of the night if you have a problem." "The only company I would trust on a boat."
