FR Review:
HED South is a full-service home integration company with a unique, two-pronged approach to the business. First, the firm will often combine high- and low-end components in innovative ways, leading to reduced costs without a distinct drop in quality. Second, despite a roster of celebrity clients, HED has a stated policy of “no job too small,” meaning that the same technician supervising an installation at Robert DeNiro’s house might be called out the next day to fix a broken antenna. These tactics generally win strong recommendations from clients. Indeed, HED received one of the strongest endorsements when a well-connected client secured the firm a contract for what might be the nation’s most high-profile A/V installation: former President Clinton’s home theater in the white house.
Founded in 1985 by A/V lifer Jan Vitrofsky, HED originally called New York home, moving its base of operations to Florida in 1997. In terms of services, the firm handles essentially all low-voltage systems: audio, video, telephone, lighting, computer networks, motorized blinds and security. According to references, the quality is in most cases equal to the firm’s considerable reputation. The only problem may be simply to book HED. Their commitment to servicing existing clients and to taking on smaller jobs means that the firm can be stretched thin during busy seasons. Still, all those that manage to work with HED give it top marks, saying “I’ll never use another firm.”
