This small, trade-only workroom sews its signature on each fastidiously fashioned piece that passes through its doors. For the last 16 years, owner Arnold Flores has cultivated the “tiny welt” that has become the company’s calling card detail, one that sources say is “absolutely fantastic and one that few can replicate.” Clients also note that Flores is particularly adept with classically styled Bridgewater, Odeon and Marshall Field chairs and scroll arm club chairs.
Flores’ diligent four man staff can handle everything from reupholstery and furniture restoration to custom furniture building. The company receives high marks for the level of its materials, including Poplar for its frames, 80/20 goose down, and number 7, 8 and 9 coil springs. Sofas range from $600 - $1,600 per foot, chairs from $2,000 - $4,000 and reupholstery is 50 percent of what it would cost new. Turnaround time holds true to the market--2 to 3 months for 5 pieces--but Flores does require a 50 percent deposit before any work begins, with the other half due upon completion. Riding on their reputation for "elegant, sophisticated details,” Flores maintains a predominantly New York-based clientele.
