FR Review:
Since 1990, Enviroscapes, Inc. has provided clients with lush, soothing residential escapes that subtly engage all of the senses. The North Miami-based firm has a tendency to take on projects that are artistically and aesthetically provocative or, as clients have commented, “a little off the beaten path.” These “environments” incorporate a contemporary blend of water features, hardscape, irrigation design, lighting effects, fog, music and traditional landscaping. A very strong “Green” company, Enviroscapes takes every opportunity to use biodegradable and recycled materials as well as water conserving techniques.

Enviroscapes has three designers on staff, and all decisions are filtered through company principal Mark Drew Martin. A transplant from Jamaica, Martin holds a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture and teaches Landscape Construction, Tropical Ecology and South Florida Landscapes as an adjunct professor at Florida International University. He has kept the firm small, concentrating on dedicated, personal attention for each client. To insure this level of service, Martin usually insists on handling the construction management during installation. According to sources, “he takes control in a positive way," though sources also note that the firm could be a little more organized and timely during the initial planning process.

The firm’s workload is split right down the middle between residential and commercial projects, three to seven jobs at any one time. Typically, the design phase of a project is priced as a lump fee that can run anywhere from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the size and scope. Construction management costs $175 an hour. On average, Enviroscape projects totals somewhere in the range of $100,000 to a couple of million at time of completion.

Representative Client Comments:
"I've work with Mark and his staff for 15 years and they are very competent." "They definitely make the extra effort to be environmentally conscious and as 'Green' as possible." "Mark is outstanding doing all the leg work between [the home owner] and installation crew."
