FR Review:
Alain Olivier founded Gold Coast Metal Works in 2002 after a journey to the Czech Republic. The historic metalworking he found there inspired Olivier to open his shop, which now has twenty people working on the drafting, designing, engineering and forging of a variety of large-scale projects. Starting with forging work, Gold Coast Metal Works has branched into casting and gilding. Olivier and his team work with a variety of metals, including iron, steel and bronze, but do not use aluminum. All the pieces are hand-forged in the Czech Republic, but clients searching for period gates, doors, window casements or railings don’t need to be international travelers: all the pieces are shipped and assembled by Olivier and his crew in the United States.

Clients rave about Olivier’s knowledge and experience, and his team’s artistic vision attracts customers and recognition worldwide, from private homes in Moscow to the Yale Club in New York. Olivier works primarily with designers and architects rather than individual homeowners, and almost all of Gold Coast Metal Works’ projects are residential, but they have done work for commercial clients. Because of the requisite skill required for blacksmithing, pricing can shoot up into the expensive. Gold Coast Metal Works concentrates on very high-end architecture ironwork, and the cost reflects this.

Representative Client Comments:
“Alain’s very knowledgeable and friendly, and very patient.” “The work they do is absolutely beautiful.” “The love he has for metal working is apparent in ever piece he does.”
