Founded in 1994 by no-nonsense veteran electrician Howard Hamilton, RCI Electric has earned word-of-mouth referrals the old fashioned way: by arriving on time, getting the job done, and cleaning up afterwards. With eight on staff and seven trucks in the lot, RCI works primarily in Palm Beach County and almost exclusively on residential projects. This is usually service work, as opposed to new construction (for larger jobs, Hamilton will take on subcontractors if need be). The firm will handle rewiring projects, kitchen and bath remodels, new outlets and automated lighting systems, as well as the installation of energy-saving fixtures for those concerned about the environment and their electricity bill. RCI does handle emergency calls, but sources note that Howard and Co. are usually out in the field, not in the office answering the phone. Overall, the company is by praised by sources as a small-but-dedicated firm perfect for small to mid-size jobs, executed at a competitive hourly rate.
