FR Review:
With a highly edited vision and a strong hand, Brad Ford has developed a spare, modern aesthetic with a warm soul. While the furnishings are few and far between, each is lovingly crafted and wrapped in the most endearing textures. Brushed caramel leather, earthy honed gray marble, vanilla linens, raw iron fixtures, mahogany velvet, and rough-hewn wood exposures charm the otherwise neutral palettes. This clean, fresh approach draws inspiration from the 20th-century masters--Jean-Michel Frank, Pierre Chareau, George Nakashima. Ford's desire to please his clients matches his careful and reassuring design sensibility.
Ford grew up in Arkansas, receiving a business and economics degree from Hendrix College. After working in computer programming for a few years, he found his calling in design. Moving to New York, Ford earned a degree in interior design from FIT, working with Jed Johnson for two years, Thad Hayes for three, and starting his own firm in 1998. With a small office and a committed desire to offer personalized attention, Ford takes on about four large and four smaller projects at a time.
Projects can be in the $100,000 range, with many recent clients being avid modern art collectors in the process of establishing a collection. The firm takes a standard design fee and a lower commission (across the board). Hourlies are charged for non-product time.
