FR Review:
When clients see a room or piece completed by Thomas Riley Artisans’ Guild (TRAG) they join the chorus of happy homeowners repeating the refrain: “I have never seen its equal.” This Florida-based firm’s incredible artisan talents have a long reach and lasting imprint along the Eastern seaboard, including the custom woodwork throughout The Mark hotel on Madison Avenue. The firm provides monumental quality and white-glove service from initial sketches and drafting through custom finishing, delivery and installation. Within its “immaculate, 42,000-squarefoot state-of-the-art facility” there is very little TRAG cannot do. Its list of specialty skills and services reads like the fi nest woodworker’s wine list, including freestanding furniture, built-ins, architectural millwork, hand-carved pieces, paneling, and coffered and tongue-and-groove ceilings, just to highlight a few.
Beyond the sheer quality of its work, TRAG is revered for the corporate culture it has created. The company consists of more than 60 “incredibly organized and efficient” artisan craftsmen and support staff who are dedicated to their work, to each other and to the community. Each project is approached with a singular focus from concept to completion, ensuring the highest possible quality and service. If you have any questions regarding progress, simply go to the facility and take a look—in fact, clients are encouraged to walk through and even look at the project board to see who is working on what. Clients applaud TRAG, for this “type of transparency is a rarity.”
The company takes on a lot of smaller projects, down to one-of-a-kind pieces, but as far as complete rooms are concerned, prices start around $250,000. TRAG takes on between two and eight projects at a time, which can take (from contract to completion, without any hang-ups) between four and eight months. Be mindful of the timing of your installation, as business peaks in the summer. TRAG maintains a minimum backlog of four weeks, “refusing to compromise quality for volume.” We understand that the firm’s fees are “on the level of a Bentley,” but what they provide is so far beyond expectations that it justifies the cost.
